Heels reach 12 inches
Think your heels are high? Well a Romanian “shoe architect” has created a pair of 12 inch heels, which is at leat twice the height of most ladies shoes on the high street.
But Mihai Albu’s don’t come in cheap. The hand-crafted sandals are selling for up to €1,200 (£1,000) which is more than twice the average monthly salary in Romania.
However, the designer believes his killer heels are worth the high price tag.
“Heels have an advantage because (many women) don’t have long legs,” said Mr Albu.
“They reposition the waist,” he said in an interview on Wednesday in his Bucharest atelier.
Mihai Albu is a former architect so blends architecture, maths and art to create his shoes.

One of his designs features an emerald heel topped by a skull mask out of which bursts a shock of peacock feathers while another features three heels, two of which are decorative. There are boots that resemble a glass vase and unicorn-like boots with a heel in front and his latest creation, the 12.2 inch heel sandal, is a construction of three black wedge sandals.
